She Got Game: 9-Year-Old Jaden Newman Already Recruited By University Of Miami

The University of Miami is recruiting its next basketball star that is reported to have a crossover like Allen Iverson and handles the ball like Muggsy Bogues. Who is this rising star … well SHE is a point guard at Downey Christian School and is one of the best young basketball players in America.
Her name is Jaden Newman and amazingly she is only 9-years-old. Although she is only 9 she is averaging 14.8 points and 7.5 assists at the high school level and is already the recruiting target of at least one Divison I basketball program.
Derrick Gibbs, Miami’s womens basketball assistant coach, began the recruitment process by calling Newman’s parents. For some parents, having schools courting their 9-year-old daughter might be scary, but the Newman family is game.
Watch below as Jaden shows off her dribbling skills:
“There’s a reason why college programs are hot on Newman’s heels. The girls hoops prodigy follows in the footsteps of her brother, Julian Newman, who excelled as an elementary schooler competing on the Downey Christian boys team. Both have been brought up by their father to train hard and focus on basketball when they’re not in school.”
So while it may seem odd for a pre-teen to be recruited for collegiate athletics, Newman is schooling girls twice her age and even more than twice her size on a regular basis. And quite frankly, that is not normal either. She got game!
