Rice Arrested after Physical Altercation with Woman

Ray Rice may need some defense before the season even starts.
According to SI.com, the Baltimore Raven running back was arrested on Friday after having a physical altercation with his fiancée. Rice’s attorney has downplayed the matter as only “minor” but apparently it must have been serious enough to land him into custody.
Rice’s attorneys admitted they have not seen the evidence and that the whole situation should amount to “a little more than a misunderstanding.”
According to Atlantic City police, the couple was arrested for “striking each other with their hands.” After police looked at the surveillance footage, they determined there was a “physical altercation.” They were both released after receiving a court summons.
A couple of days later, the Baltimore Raven released a statement regarding the issue.
“We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancé,” the team said in a statement. “We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”
Rice was seen in the casino earlier hanging with eight other people but posing no threat. Details are sketchy as to what actually occurred as far as what type of physical actions. Deadspin reports that Rice’s fiancée, Janay Palmer, spit in his face and in return he uppercut her which made her unconscious.
Rice’s lawyers have not seen any documents with charges and still hopes to go through some more of the evidence. Rice is coming off the worst season of his career just totaling 660 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Injuries also slowed him down averaging 3.08 yards per carry. It is too early to tell whether or not they will charge the couple or if the charges will just be dismissed. No court date has been announced for Palmer or Ray.
