No. 1 Recruit Da’Shawn Hand Chooses Alabama
In a live announcement broadcast on Thursday, Woodbridge (Va.) High defensive end Da’Shawn Hand verbally committed to Alabama over Michigan and Florida. Hand, the top-ranked recruit in the class of 2014, according to Sports Illustrated, is 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds.
“Why not go where there’s a great possibility that you could win a national championship?” Hand said shortly after announcing his decision.
Hand boasts elite size and strength and can get off the line quickly–he also has the frame to put on more weight. Hand weighed a number of factors before making his decision, and he maintained that academics were a top priority.

Da’Shawn?–What type of name is–nevermind–Black folks, come on, we gotta do better! Academics a priority?–Haha, yea right. Not that Alabama is a horrible school, but let’s keep it real. Also, there’s not gonna be much time for studying at a program only one step down from an NFL team. The Crimson Tide is gonna work him into the ground.
The only way to get top recruits, is to win. As long as Bama keeps racking up championships, they’ll continue to get great players. That’s one problem with college recruitment compared to the NFL–there’s no way to shake things up or break the cycle.
