Teen Phenom Mo’ne Davis Drafted By The Harlem Globetrotters

Mo’ne Davis‘ rise to media darling has been nothing short of phenomenal.  The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native captured the world’s attention after she became the first African-American female to appear in the Little League World Series.

The pitching prodigy left many of her male counterparts kicking up dust after being struck out and the athletic community embraced her acknowledging her athletic prowess while becoming an inspiration for young women and men alike.

As good as she is in baseball, Davis’ true love is basketball and she proved that she could hold her own at the NBA All-Star Celebrity basketball game in New York’s hallowed Madison Square Gardens.monekevhart

Apparently, she wowed the legendary Harlem Globetrotters as they drafted the uber-athletic teenager, who is entering the 9th grade, to play for the team when she graduates from college.

The Harlem Globetrotters said in a statement that they are exercising a “Future Discovery Clause” to obtain the rights to Davis Tuesday (June 23, 2015) in their ninth annual player draft.

Davis, who made her high school varsity basketball team as an 8th grader, dreams of playing her college basketball for the UCONN Lady Huskies.  In 2014 she was named monesicoverSports Illustrated Kids’ Sportskid of the Year, garnering the vaunted cover of SI, and the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year.

The Globetrotters have gotten to see Mo’ne Davis’ skills up close after she took the floor with the Globetrotters this past March when they visited Philadelphia.

moneIn addition to Davis, the Globetrotters drafted 2015 college slam dunk champion LaQuavius Cotton, U.S. women’s soccer player Alex Morgan, trick shot artists Dude Perfect, Wyoming’s Larry Nance Jr. and Hawaii Pacific point guard Kylie Huerta.
