National Signing day was Wednesday, February 5th and the University of Miami brought in a recruiting class that cracked the top 10 according to ESPN. Along with getting a 4-star recruit in quarterback Brad Kaaya, they also got a celebrity fan. Brad’s mother is Angela Means-Kaaya, or better known as “Felisha” from Ice Cube’s movie Friday.

bradkaayaOnce Brad hits campus, he will be a major deal especially if he ever gets the starting quarterback role. But I’m not sure if he will ever spawn a saying that will forever become part of our culture like his mom did. You remember, in Friday, when Craig (Ice Cube) hit her with the line “Bye Felisha.” Almost 20 years later people are still getting with that phrase.

“Felisha” isn’t the only celeb whose offspring has seen success on the natedoggfootball field. Famous/late rapper Nate Dogg’s son Naijiel Hale is a 4-star CB out of California and has signed to play at the University of Washington for next season. Also superstar rapper Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell Broadus is rated a 5-star WR and has received scholarships from major college football programs such as USC and defending National Champions Florida State.

Cordell Broadus has been in a numerous amount of ESPN interviews with his father SnoopDogg. naijelhaleHe finds it pretty dope that his father is one of the best rappers of a generation. Also the fact that he has been coaching him ever since his Pop Warner days. Also Naijiel Hale (Nate Dogg’s son) says he and his brother plan to pursue music careers one day.

In the end it’s always good to break away from the brand your parent has built and build your own unique brand.
