Mason’s Beast-Like Performance Makes Auburn Champions of the SEC: They are H-O-T

This weekend was a display of pure dominance by the Auburn Tigers as they literally ran the Mizzou Tigers off of the field in their 59-42 win. Starting running back Tre Mason was the goto guy, leading the team with 304 rushing yards on 42 carries. The Auburn offense totaled 545 rushing yards and 677 total yards. Mason made a legit case to at least receive an invite to New York to take part in Heisman festivities.

Mizzou was more than just a worthy opponent, racking up 534 total yards themselves. Including a coming out party for Sophomore Wide Receiver Dorail Green-Beckham, who had 164 receiving yards on 6 catches and 2 touchdowns. But in the end the Auburn offense was just too much to handle. Now the question is what is next for the Auburn Tigers?

With wins over then former #1 Alabama and the now #5 Mizzou Tigers in back to back weeks, Auburn still  needs some help. Ohio St and Florida St, both with undefeated records, stand in front of Auburn. So there is nowhere for the Tigers to currently move.  At the time of this writing, there is hope that one of these undefeated teams will lose so that the Tigers have a shot at the BCS.

Some say Auburn deserves to jump #2 Ohio St, whether they win or lose, simply because Auburn has defeated more worthy opponents. But its hard to say that when Ohio St hasn’t lost a game in two years.

Nobody knows how the BCS standings will look when they’re displayed Sunday afternoon. One thing is for sure. The Auburn Tigers are the hottest team in the country and nobody wants to face them right now.
